Scout-o-Rama

Description: In the 1980's, Jayhawk Area Council was a host of the area Scout-O-Rama. Many Scouters remember how the Boy Scouts would man booths to show the public their scouting skills. To meet the ever changing demand for Scouting interest, the District Camporees were established. However, this year, to celebrate 1OO years of Scouting, we are bringing the Jayhawk Area Council Scout-O-Rama back.

Scout-O-Rama, is a fair involving Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Venturers of the Jayhawk Area Council. The fair is open for public exhibition. The theme for the Scout-O-Rama is simply "100 Years of Scouting."

During the Scout-O-Rama, Boy Scout troops, Cub Scout packs and Venturing crews will staff diverse activity stations open to the public. The booths and activities could include first-aid stations, rope bridges, pioneering projects, pinewood derby races, fishing, kite flying, archery, mountain man reenactments, police and emergency vehicle displays, many arts, crafts and games.

Other activities include an antique Car Show, area vendors demonstrating the latest in Scouting merchandise, and a 5K run.

After a full day of activities provided by our local packs, troops and crews, the event ends with the tantalizing aroma of dutch oven cooking, racing and a campfire.
